Purchased these as a gift for my 80 year old Mom. She was feeling depressed and kinda blue. I happened to be speaking on the phone with her when the hospice nurse came in for her bi weekly visit with my 85 year old Aunt. Obviously, I am speaking of Mom's older Sister. Mom takes care of and has been doing so for the past10 years all by herself . For those of you who are unaware one of the tasks the hospice nurse performs is to assist or help the patient change their linens, blankets, etc Mom asked if I could hold on a moment and she set the phone down. I couldn't help but overhear her conversation with the hospice nurse. She was apologizing for not having any linens to match my Aunt's comforter. I overheard she handed her a green set of sheets for a comforter colored beige, with red, pink and tan roses on it. I also heard my Aunt protest the two not matching. Next I heard something that bothered me greatly. My Mom was explaining also apologizing to my Aunt that things were not the way they used to be. She said Sister we live on a fixed income. We are both widowed and I don't know what you want me to do. We have a home, heat, air conditioning, good beds and a car which runs. I'm sorry everything isn't pretty as it once was. I understand you are used to everything matching and being just so. Sort of like the feeling you just walked into a Good Housekeeping or Better Homes and Gardens photo opp. I hate to inform you Sis but luxury doesn't live here anymore. I know this might not sound like a big deal to most of you guys. But my small family has been through so much in the past twenty years. I really wanted to lift Mom's spirits and indulge her as I know it has been at least 15 years since she has purchased anything for the home. When she came back to the telephone we chatted a little more. I ended the conversation by asking her if she still had Nana's bedroom set. I told her I would love to purchase it for myself which was true. She said no honey I sold it in a garage sale for next to nothing a few years ago. I went on to non chalantly ask about her bedroom set as well as my Aunt's. I received the information I needed. The bed size of both the women. I immediately logged into my Prime account when we hung up the phone. It was close to Presidents Day and we all know what that means. Correcto mundo...white sales! The absolute perfect timing. Couldn't ask for any better After looking at a minimum of a hundred summer quilts, lightweight comforters, pillow shams and matching sheet sets I had made my decision. I ordered them each a beautiful quilt and double pillow sham set. Mom's in turquoise, tan, and sage for the color scheme. Also ordered her two sets of sheets. One in light turquiose and the second set in white with the a lovely coral pattern throughout in turquoise . Coincidentally, the same pattern was on the quilt. There are no such thing as coincidences by the way Anyhow, I was bound and determined to cheer her up and this gift did precisely that. She was suprised, excited and delighted when she received the quilt and sheet sets about a week later. However, being the person I am I don't know where to stop or set boundaries for myself sometimes. That being said, the courderoy pillow covers you are viewing right now and considering whether you want to purchase or not. My best advice to you is yes, absolutely do it. My Mother was thrilled with the throw pillow covers. She said they were much like the fabrics of the 60's, 70's, and early 80'ss thick and durable. She also pointed out the zipper was sown in correctly. No gaps at either end. She allso mentioned at least twice how soft and comfortable they felt to the skin and touch. And we're machine washable to boot. She went on for awhile, eventually asking if I could purchase a set for my Aunt in the same color. I giggled and smiled to myself She inquired how much they cost and continued on staying she would gladly send me a check in that amount of I would make the purchase on her behalf. I smiledwidely once again to myself and told her no worries. I said I will take the difference in exchange Mom when I come visit after the pandemic. Consider this your I.O.U. for one potato kugel and one noodle Charlotte. We both genuinely laughed and I must admit it felt so good to hear her laugh. Feel the life in her voice again.
